Meetings To Be Held Every Other Wednesday Evening Beginning Feb. 10 at Simple Balance Holistic Center, 221 E. Chicago St., Elgin
Elgin, IL - January 12, 2010 – Simple Balance Holistic Center (www.simple-balance.com) has announced the start of a new study group to meet at its downtown Elgin facility beginning in mid-February. The center is providing meeting space for individuals interested in studying the text “A Course in Miracles”. First published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace (www.acim.com), "A Course In Miracles" is characterized as a universal, spiritual self-study thought system designed to facilitate personal transformation. Studying the text and applying its accompanying workbook lessons has been described by students as a practical, non-sectarian, non-political way to experience greater peace and joy in their lives.
According to the Foundation for Inner Peace, to date, nearly two million volumes have been published worldwide. Materials consist of three books: a 622-page Text, a 478-page Workbook for Students, and an 88-page Manual for Teachers. The Course has been officially translated into 19 languages, with eight new translations currently underway.
A related website, www.miraclecenter.org, maintains a database that lists nearly 2,000 study groups worldwide in 55 countries.
Providing meeting space for the new study group is consistent with the mission of Simple Balance Holistic Center, according to Dr. Jaena Stanley-Gonzaga, chiropractic physician and Center owner. “Our goal is to provide services and resources that enable individuals to empower themselves”, she said. “With its purposes of personal growth and inner peace, the study group is compatible with the healing work and philosophy of the Center. We are pleased to make this option available to the community.” Yoga classes, therapeutic massage, meditation sessions, and nutritional supplements are among the array of professional healing services and resources available at the Center.
The “A Course In Miracles" study group meetings will be offered to the public free of charge. Meetings are scheduled bi-weekly beginning Wednesday, February 10, at 6:15 PM. The location is Simple Balance Holistic Center, 221 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Advance registration is not required but is recommended due to limited space.
